The tailoring centre was inaugurated!

The construction of Seeds' tailoring school centre was completed in September! The goal is to provide a centre for underprivileged women to acquire tailoring skills and business knowledge on how to generate a sustainable means of income, either by establishimg their own micro-business or find employment as a seamstress.

The tailoring business centre was inaugurated with much festivity on 22nd September, 2015. The ceremony was attended by about 120 people which included local district officials and the students’ families. It is already equipped with sewing machines and materials and provides space for sewing classes, business training as well as an area for the display of garments and products made by the students. The first group of 21 women are attending sewing classes, taught by a local tailor together with tailor from Spain. The women are learning from simple sewing skills, such as those required to sew sanitary towels, to more advanced sewing projects such as making children’s school uniforms and skirts.

A big thank you to our donors, volunteers and everyone who made this possible!
