VLSAs in Iganga
Partnership with UAOWF
This program in partnership with United African Orphans and Widow’s Foundation, has been ongoing since 2018. Most of the members attending being women and widows, it has enabled them to gain confidence within their household, as well as in their professional lives. Coming to an end of its third phase, the Iganga project has shown impressive impact on these women and their communities where they felt empowered, independent, and financially more capable.
Indeed, Iganga area counts some of the poorest rural areas in Uganda, due to recurrent drought during the year and a major lack of infrastructures. Therefore, access to financial services is essential to boosting its economy and the economic and social levels of its population.
This partnership represents an amount of savings of more than 245000€ since 2018, with more than 436 000€ being borrowed by the savers, with a total project cost of only 14 862€.
